About Jesus & The Romans Road
The good news of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of everything we believe and do at Redemption City.
The Romans Road Explained
Walking The Romans Road
A sequence of verses from the Apostle Paul's letter to the Romans explaining why we need salvation and how God graciously provides it in Christ.
Romans 3:23
Stop #1“...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...”
The word 'gospel' literally means good news! The reason it's good news is because there is bad news. Why would anyone believe they need the gospel unless they understand their need? Romans 3:23 is a foundational reminder that we are all sinners. No one is inherently righteous, and no one keeps God's commandments perfectly. God is holy, and every single human being has fallen short. Sin separates us from having a relationship with a holy God. We need a Savior.
Romans 5:8
Stop #2“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The second stop on the Romans Road emphasizes the unconditional love of God toward the sinner. We were unlovable, but He loved us. We were hopeless, but He gave us hope. In our spiritually dead condition, God chose to show mercy, grace, and kindness by sending His Son Jesus Christ to take the penalty for our sins upon Himself on the cross.
Romans 6:23
Stop #3“For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The earned payment for sin is spiritual and eternal death—separation from God. Just like a court system enforces justice for broken laws, God's holiness demands justice for sin. But the second half is the glorious gift: God offers eternal life freely through Jesus Christ! Jesus took the penalty on the cross so that everyone who believes may receive eternal forgiveness and life in His presence.
Romans 8:1
Stop #4“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ...”
If you are 'in Christ'—having placed your faith in Him, trusting that He died for you and rose bodily on the third day—you are completely justified. You no longer carry guilt or condemnation before God. Your sins are washed clean by the blood of Christ.
Romans 10:9
Stop #5“...that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved...”
Salvation is received by genuine heart-faith and open confession of Jesus as Lord. Are you willing to turn from sin and trust Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Through faith in Him, God transforms you from the inside out, granting you eternal life, peace, and new purpose.
Have You Placed Your Trust in Jesus?
If you believe Jesus died for your sins and rose again, you can pray right now in sincere faith: "Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner in need of Your grace. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I surrender my life to You as my Savior and Lord. Amen."
